From the press release:

The Dearborn Downtown Development Authorities are hosting a virtual public input meeting on January 27, 2021 to give community members a chance to provide their ideas for the redesign of City Hall Park, a city park located at Michigan Avenue and Schaefer Road.

Dearborn community members are encouraged to inspire the new design and programming of the poplar East Downtown Dearborn park, located at the former City Hall property and flanking the front of City Hall Artist Lofts by Artspace.

The park is a popular draw with sidewalk paths, picnic tables, large, mature trees, all nestled in the center of East Dearborn. It provides a shaded respite as well as a warmer weather picnic lunch spot.

“City Hall Park is a project that doesn’t happen very often – the chance to impact a large greenspace in an urban community. We look to build on this key attraction, from daily walks to annual marquee events, for residents and visitors alike,” stated Cristina Sheppard-Decius, Manager of the Dearborn Downtown Development Authorities.

“Most importantly, we want this to be an inclusive project and will be hosting one input meeting from 6 p.m. – 7 p.m. in English and another from 7 p.m. – 8 p.m. in Arabic. All ideas are welcome.”

City Hall Park has hosted activities such as Jazz on the Ave, a jazz series which brings in over 3,000 visitors weekly during it’s six-week run in July and August, Movies in the Park on select Friday nights, Music in the Park, a Spring music series held on select Wednesdays and Fall and Spring Perennial Exchanges for the local gardener. One event being explored is an East Dearborn Farmers Market.

Dearborn residents who wish to participate in the virtual public input meeting will need to RSVP at [email protected] Join our Facebook Event page for up-to-date information.
